My only complaints are that the pockets aren't real [not a big loss] and I probably should have bought a size up. I'm not a small man (6'3" and a bit of an acquired paunch), and bought an XL. Try as I might to suck in my gut, I could only button about the top 3-4 buttons (it was otherwise too tight to stretch far enough to button up any more). Don't know if a "plus" [from the sizing chart] was available or not. I think only XL was available as a buying option?Anyway, given that I have other under-pieces, and planned to wear it "open" anyway, the size issue wasn't terminal, and I really don't care. (I suspect it's primarily meant to be worn open anyway?)Sizing issue aside, the material is awesome. It's like a nice velvet-y material, and quite heavy, unlike other more linen-y costumes I've seen and worn over the years. This thing feels "premium" to me. Which given it was like $45, I guess it *should* feel fairly premium? Anyway, I completely love this pirate jacket. While I might have liked some "trim" touches like some gold trim or whatnot, it works quite well for what it is. Also I rather like the skull & crossbones buttons it uses. Nice bit of "finish." Granted a couple of the buttons appeared to be "upside down." Meh. Not even sweating it and doubt anyone will be pedantic enough to notice it or call it out.Overall, 110% recommend this thing. I, personally love it, sizing issues aside (I just assume it's meant to be worn open; otherwise maybe buy a size or two up?). Goes great with the Elope "Gov'nah" tricorn hat. That thing is an absolute beauty and well worth the money too.I have to say for the price this coat is definitely better than anything you'd get at a run of the mill costume shop, but in the end I wish I hadn't bought it.At 6'1 and 250 lbs, I am not a small person - but that being said I wear XL shirts every day, and based on other reviews of size I ordered an XL. Length wise the coat is awesome, but wearing it is extremely uncomfortable and tight and does not feel true to an XL. I can wear the coat with it open just fine, which is certianly the look you are going for, but again even open it is extremely uncomfortable. My additional complaints are lesser but are I think worth noting:First, out of the package this thing smells like it just came out of a glue factory, and it still does after running it through an at-home dry cleaning kit and leaving it to hang for a few days.Secondly, the material of this coat is felt-like, which to be fair was mentioned in other comments. I knew that going in, but that being said - I wouldn't plan on wearing it anywhere if you aren't bringing a lint roller with you. There was a bit of dust on the coat even pulling it out of the bag, and it attracts dust, fur, hair, etc. like crazy. At the end of the day, as others have said, for the price the coat is fine. I like the look and I love the length. I wouldn't buy it again though, for my money the cons outweigh the pros. This is a great jacket. just what i was looking for. i ordered the XL and received the L at first. I could wear it but was much too tight to put the rest of my costume on under it. I returned it and very quickly got the XL replacement in the mail. There was no grief or anything with returning it. I DO wish they had an XXL because even though the XL is ok it's just a tad too small to button and i wish it was a little more roomy. The quality feels good and length and style were what i was looking for. I'm 5' 9" and 205 and would probably have liked an XXL but the page i ordered this from only went up to XL.I am glad I ordered both the large and extra large sizes. I normally wear large shirts and jackets. The large size jacket was far too small around the chest to button and the ends of the sleeves stopped several inches above my wrists. I'm 6' 240lbs.The extra large fit great, although a bit too snug to keep buttoned up over my stomach. ?The material quality seems great. It is definitely a costume jacket though.I will have to sew a pocket or two on the inside before I use it again. The pants I bought don't have pockets either, so carrying a cellphone and wallet for both myself and my date ended up requiring me to carry a bag.I am 5'4", 120 pounds and I bought this in medium and the fit is PERFECT. I mean, I'm not going for pirate-vixen here, more of utilitarian pirate, so it would stand to reason that I do not want a skin-tight coat, and this is loose enough to move about in but still cute. Plenty of room for a flowy pirate shirt and belt and pants underneath. For a dude, I would say it runs small, but that is not my concern. Love the longer tail in the back and the skull and crossbones buttons. It's not lined, but the fabric is a heavy, upholstery-like velvet with nice folded back cuffs, and a good weight to it. A tall collar that can be popped or not. Very pleasantly surprised and I feel this is a good find! This is a very cool pirate costume. It has not real pockets, which sucks, but it has no cheap looking trim, and the gold buttons are pretty cool. PATRIOT ALERT: The coat I got is made in China :( not the US as stated in the description. The material is medium weight, which is heavy weight for most cheap pirate costumes you'll find in a plastic bag. The sizing chart given is false; the packing itself states that XL is 46-48, but I wear a 46 suit, and it buttons quite tightly on me, so I'm guessing a size 48 could not hope to button it. The arms are long, like a size Long (or tall) coat, and the body is very long: past the knees in front and between the calf and ankle in the back! The extra long cascade in the tail in the back is an awesome plus. It's not like a tailcoat tuxedo, but it does have some of the same effect. It also has a weird two button cincher at the waist in back, but it doesn't seem to have any function other than appearance. The apparent pockets are just flaps sewn on, which sucks. Overall, a very cool coat I look forward to wearing, and at an excellent [c. $50] price when I managed to get it with prime shipping.I had decorated Pirates of the Caribbean and the this outfit made it complete. The coat is really good quality. Will be able to use it for more Halloween to come.Buttons have skulls and crossbones on them which in my opinion are slightly tacky, also was slightly smaller than expected. Otherwise it works fine for a Halloween outfit but less as well as a cheaper substitute for an actual pirates coat. Pretty cheap though so I'm happy enough with it.
